Teen and Youth Depression Counselling

Specializing In:

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy that focuses on treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and other behaviours that interfere with individual well-being and hinder someone’s ability to deal with stress. The patient gets directed by the therapist to visualise a distressing event which then helps the patient process associated bodily sensations. The new rescripted image helps eliminate the resistant memory and patients do not have to relive traumatizing memories.

Children and teens may express anxiety in the form of tummy aches, self harm, suicidal behaviors, high risk behaviors, outbursts, conflict, dissociation, selective mutism, and poor impulse control.

It is common for parents to wonder if they are getting it right. Especially when our efforts to stop difficult behaviors through timeouts, spanking, ignoring, or yelling doesn’t work. With Circle of Security Parenting™ Program, you will have the tools you need to raise calm, confident and content kids.

DBT is Dialectic Behavioral Therapy which helps teens struggling with mental health issues, self-harm thoughts and high risk behaviors, regain control of their emotions. Ideal for youth 12 -18 yrs old.

Exposure to bullying, trauma, domestic violence, substance abuse, hospitalization, and emotional & physical neglect may lead to suicidal ideation and self-harm attempts. During the pandemic, the number of children and teens who attempted suicide or self-harm has increased by 200% in Canada.

Conflict with peers or family members, attachment and separation anxiety, and angry outbursts are addressed in a safe and welcoming environment to help your family heal.

Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder where the child cannot speak in specific situations, places or to certain people.  Selective mutism is common in early childhood.

LGBTQ youth face unique mental health challenges and are at higher risk for suicide attempts which require medical treatment. Risk factors include childhood maltreatment, mental illness, chronic feelings of hopelessness, and the perceived sense of being a burden or not belonging.
